About the Yukon Conservation Data Centre
Who we are
The Yukon Conservation Data Centre (CDC) is a member of a network of data centres and Natural Heritage Programs around the world coordinated by NatureServe International.
What we do
The Yukon CDC gathers, maintains and distributes information on animals, plants and ecological communities at risk or of conservation concern in Yukon.
The Importance of Conservation Data Centres
Accurate information about species and ecosystems at risk is essential to effectively manage, conserve and protect our natural resources. The CDC provides a central, reliable, and continually updated source for this information.
Report Sightings
Yukon Conservation Data Centre welcomes observations from anyone working, living or observing on the land. In particular, we’d like to receive your sightings of reportable species, which are species we are actively tracking and that are identifiable in the field.
Use the observation forms below to report your sightings. Alternately, you can use your own method of reporting, using the forms as a guide of the type of information the Conservation Data Centre collects.

Field identification guides for reportable species:
- by geographic region
- by First Nation Traditional Territory
- plants, by species

Conservation Data
The Yukon Conservation Data Centre makes conservation data publicly available to anyone wishing to access information on species or ecosystems of conservation concern.
We maintain a list of all animals and plants known to occur in Yukon with their corresponding conservation ranks at the global, national and territorial levels. In addition, we map locations of animals and plants of conservation concern in Yukon.
Track and Watch Lists
Track List: a complete list of all species of conservation concern with conservation status ranks.
- Animal Track List
42 KB - Plant Track List
37 KB
Watch List: species for which there is not ave enough information to determine whether they are of conservation concern.
- Animal Watch List
39 KB - Plant Watch List
60 KB
Maps (shapefiles) of known locations of any tracked species for any pecified region in Yukon are also available. To obtain these, please contact us. For location specific data, please submit a Data Release Agreement with your request.
