Tombstone Territorial Park covers an area of 2,200 square kms north of Dawson City.

The Dempster Highway bisects the Park and provides an opportunity to view stunning arctic tundra landscapes and wildlife, and access to hiking areas. The Park includes a concentration of wide ecological niches, which has resulted in a diverse collection of flora and fauna, uncommon at this latitude.

Interpretive Centre

The Tombstone Interpretive Centre is open from May 20 - September 15 (including holidays).

Hours

May 20 to June 17 - 9 am to 5 pm daily

June 18 to Sept. 5 - 9 am to 7 daily

Sept. 6 to15 - 9 am to 5 pm daily

The centre showcases the park's features through displays, interpretive trails, walks, hikes, and back country routes. Outdoor information boards display information on wildlife sightings, bear safety, events, hiking and highway conditions.

The centre sells backcountry camping permits, rents out bear canisters for a refundable deposit and issues camping and fishing passes.

Stay Safe

Tombstone Park is a remote park with few established trails. Even for day hikes, prepare for rough terrain and drastic weather changes.

We strongly advise you to leave a trip plan with a reliable friend or the RCMP before traveling into the Tombstone Park area. Include your planned routes, expected date of return, and when the authorities should be notified if you don't arrive home.

Check out these resources before visiting Tombstone Park:

You are responsible for your own safety. Yukon Parks staff do not have the capacity or responsibility for initiating search and rescue.
