Permit Hunt Information

Permit hunts are used to limit hunting for areas and/or species in order to manage overall population numbers and improve hunt quality.

Please refer to your Hunting Regulation Summary for season dates and bag limits for each species in each of Yukon's 11 Game Management Zones. You must hold a Permit Hunt Authorization (PHA) if you want to hunt moose, caribou, sheep, goat, deer or elk in a permit area.

A lottery is used each year to assign PHAs. For detailed information about this process, please read the Frequently Asked Questions handout.

2011 Permit Hunt Draw Results

Environment Yukon received 2,193 applications, of which 118 were joint applicants.

Updated July 21, 2011 - the permit draw results are as follows:

Some applicants may choose to voluntarily return their permits.  While they do not get their application fee refunded, their names will be weighted in future draws as though they were unsuccessful in this year's draw. The names in brackets are the hunters who were "next" in line and received a permit after a permit was returned.

Remember: holding a permit is not a guarantee of hunting success.
