Development Projects in Trapping Concessions
The Yukon Environmental and Socio-economic Assessment Act (YESAA) outlines an assessment process for most development projects in Yukon.
YESAA rules allow 14 calendar days for notification and comments on projects that have a low potential for significant impacts.
Projects Within Concession Areas
If trapping concession holders depend on Environment Yukon staff to contact them in cases where a project may impact their concession, the 14-day time limit may be restrictive.
Concession holders are strongly advised to protect their interests by registering directly with their nearest YESAA designated office to be notified of projects in their trapping concession areas.
Comments on projects can be sent directly to the local YESAA office and may also be sent to Environment Yukon for the department to formulate a comprehensive response.
