Who should take trapper education?

Register for a workshop

Registration for these workshops will begin on September 6, 2018 at 8:30 a.m. Registration will not be accepted prior to this date/time.

12 seats are available on a first-come first-served basis. As seats are limited, we reserve the right to give Yukon residents priority.

  1. Reserve your seat at a workshop in person at any Department of Environment office or call Client Services at 867-667-5652 or 1-800-661-0408 ext. 5652.
  2. The workshop fee is $315. Payment is required to reserve your seat. Payment can be made by cash, cheque, debit or credit card in person, or by credit card only by phone. Some participants may qualify for funding through First Nations or other government programs.
  3. Provide the following information:
    • name;
    • date of birth;
    • mailing address;
    • phone numbers; and
    • email address.

If you applied for funding support, contact the trapper education coordinator to confirm that your sponsorship has been received and your seat reserved.

Schedule of upcoming workshops

The Department of Environment offers several four-and-a-half day Basic Trapper Training workshops between October and March. There are typically two workshops in Whitehorse each year, and a workshop in every Yukon community at least once every three years.

Contact any Department of Environment office or call Client Services at 867-667-5652 or 1-800-661-0408, ext. 5652 and ask that we add your name and contact information to the notification list. When the workshop schedule is finalized, everyone on the list will be sent workshop and registration details. Email is the preferred method of communication.

Each participant will receive a Yukon Trapper’s Manual.

The Yukon Trappers Association periodically offers specialty workshops for trappers. You can contact them at yukonfur@yknet.ca or by phone at 867-667-7091.
