Yukon Fishing Regulations Summary
Advisories for 2011 - 2012
Salmon fishing in the Yukon River System
- Previously, the Regulations Summary stated that salmon fishing was prohibited on the Yukon River in the Whitehorse area and on the Takhini River.
- The language has been updated to better reflect the regulations, which dictate what kind of lure you can use while angling: only
an artificial fly.
- This restriction applies to all anglers and is intended to ensure that no salmon are caught on the very last leg of their very long journey.
Index of waters with special rules
- For the lakes and rivers not listed, general regulations apply.
Family Fishing Weekend, July 1–4, 2011
- Yukon residents may fish without a Yukon Angling Licence during the annual Family Fishing Weekend, July 1–4, 2011.
- Anglers must still comply with all fishing regulations, including catch and possession limits, and must be able to produce proof of residency if asked by a Conservation or Fishery Officer.
- Yukon residents fishing for salmon are still required to possess a Yukon Angling Licence and a Salmon Catch Card during this period.
