Ta'Tla Mun

Ta'Tla Mun (formerly Tatlmain Lake) is an important food fish lake southeast of Pelly Crossing. A 32 square kilometre Special Management Area was identified in the Selkirk First Nation Final Agreement signed in 1997.

Ta'Tla Mun lies some 40 kilometres southeast of Pelly Crossing in south central Yukon, accessible by air, ATV and snowmachine. While no one today lives year round at Ta’tla Mun, archeological evidence indicates several thousand years of human occupation around the lake with 27 prehistoric sites identified along the shoreline.

The SMA management plan focuses on the conservation of eight species of freshwater fishes and their habitat within Ta’tla Mun, including lake trout, lake whitefish and northern pike. The Selkirk First Nation has a culture camp on the site of the old fishing village.
