Parks and Land Certainty Act

The Parks and Land Certainty Act governs the creation and management of Yukon territorial parks.
The purpose of the Parks and Land Certainty Act is to establish parks:
- to implement obligations under settlement agreements;
- to provide for the protection and management of representative areas of territorial significance and other special places in the Yukon;
- to provide recreational opportunities for Yukoners and visitors; and
- to encourage public understanding, appreciation and enjoyment of the Yukon's natural environment as a legacy for future generations.
The Yukon government conducted a public review in 2008 of proposed changes to the Parks and Land Certainty Act - General Parks Regulations. The goal of the changes is to allow Yukoners and visitors alike to safely use and enjoy Yukon campgrounds and parks while protecting the natural resources that make these places special.
