Biodiversity of the Carmacks Region

Click, learn and report!

Many species in this region are remnants of Beringia – the land that was ice-free during glaciation.

The grasslands of eastern Beringia are essential to the plants and animals that live there, such as the Siberian Wormwood and the Common Nighthawk.

Others such as the Yukon Podistera are at the southernmost extent of their range in the mountains near Carmacks.
